The Board of Elementary and Secondary Education is trying to decide when to submit the state’s plan to comply with national education standards.

Superintendent of Education John White presented the plan Wednesday afternoon to the board. Members are deciding whether to submit the current plan to the feds in April, so the standards can be implemented this upcoming school year, or wait until September to give more time for revisions.

The board is meeting with teachers, administrators, organizations and parents to get their input on the Every Student Succeeds Act, also known as ESSA. The act outlines new quality for areas like testing, teaching and school performance.
