The Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Department was involved in an officer-involved shooting on LA 77 just before 1 PM Thursday.

According to Brett Stassi, Iberville Parish Sheriff, deputies responded to a call of shots fired at a house  between Grosse Tete and Indian Village bridge.  After a sheriff’s deputy arrived, they learned that a man had beaten his mother, shot out a car windshield, and ran off.

Authorities said that the man returned to the house after his girlfriend arrived, and beat said girlfriend.  The man agreed talk to the deputy outside, but instead pulled a gun on the deputy when he went outside.  The deputy returned fire, injuring the man.

Everyone involved is okay; however, the man was sent to a local hospital with his condition unknown, according to Stassi.

Authorities said the Louisiana State Police is investigating this incident.
