A Cecilia man was arrested Wednesday evening after deputies located drugs, money, a cache of guns and military body armor.
Deputies arrested Colby Calais, 45, and charged him with a long list of offenses:
- Possession With Intent To Distribute Schedule I CDS (Marijuana) 2nd Offense
- Possession With Intent To Distribute Schedule II CDS (Methamphetamine over 28 grams) 3rd Offense
- Possession With Intent To Distribute Schedule II CDS (Amphetamine)
- Possession With Intent To Distribute Schedule II CDS (Caprisoprodol)
- Possession With Intent To Distribute Schedule III CDS (Hydrodone)
- Possession With Intent To Distribute Schedule IV CDS (Alprazolam)
- Illegal Carrying Of Weapons In The Presence of a CDS
- Possession Of A Firearm By A Person Convicted Of Certain Felonies
- Illegal Use Of Body Armor
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Illegal Use Of Controlled Dangerous Substances In The Presence Of Persons Under Seventeen Years Of Age
According to the St. Martin Sheriff’s Office, authorities received a report of drug activity in the 1100 block of Grand Anse Highway.
Agents obtained a search warrant and were able to recover a large amount of drugs including: meth, amphetamine, marijuana, anti-depressants and pain pills, which have a street value around $30,000, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Handguns and an assault rifle were also seized, along with a significant amount of money. Three suspected stolen advanced military body armor vests and several sets of ballistic plates were also recovered from the location.
The investigation regarding the suspected theft of the advanced military body armor vests remains under investigation.
Calais was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center.
