It’s no secret that 2015 was a rough year for Tigerland.
A recent report from the LSU Daily Reveille took a close look at crime in the area.
The were 286 alcohol related incidents in Tigerland in 2015.
The reveille said that it was the worst year for drinking-related crime in that area since 2011.
Incidents at the beginning of this year made it look like 2016 would be more of the same.
In January, LSU tight end, Dillon Gordon was stabbed multiple times at Reggie’s Bar, and a nearby market was robbed at gunpoint.
Both the Baton Rouge Police and Tigerland business owners told Local 33 that criminal activity in the area has dropped since then.
Many credit a unique partnership between law enforcement and these businesses for the drop.
The owner of Fred’s Bar and Grill in Tigerland actually installed thousands of dollars worth of security cameras on his property, but these cameras aren’t just pointed at Fred’s.
The businesses are looking out for each other.
They could always use more help.
Whether you go to Tigerland to enjoy the nightlife or just live in the area, the Baton Rouge Police Department says if you see something say something.
With everyone working together, Tigerland could have a better year.
