The Louisiana Senate met again to consider House Bill 3 Sunday, one of the bills designed to tackle the state’s $304 million budget deficit.
The Senate did make some changes to the bill, with 29 yeas and 8 nays. Now, instead of going to the Governor’s desk, it heads back to the House of Representatives.
The bill the House passed Friday made for much deeper cuts than Governor John Bel Edwards had called for, and it makes cuts to some departments he wanted to spare.
Now, it’s back to the House, and lawmakers expect the bill to eventually make it to the Governor’s desk to be signed into law. A flood debate is scheduled for Monday, February 20th.
