People all over the nation make the pilgrimage to Washington D.C. every year to visit the Vietnam Memorial Wall to pay their respects to the men and women who gave their lives for our freedom.
This week, the Vietnam Memorial Wall has come to us.
The American Veterans Traveling Tribute, or AVTT, brought their traveling wall to the capital city Wednesday afternoon.
They set up shop on the outdoor parking lot at the Belle of Baton Rouge downtown.
The wall is an 80% scale of the original, and it has every single name that appears on the wall in D.C.,
it’s an impressive sight to see.
The traveling wall is 360 feet long and reaches 8 feet at its tallest point.
This is the biggest traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall in the nation.
The traveling wall has been making stops around the country since 1998.
Organizers say that the traveling wall is all about honoring our nations heroes one community at a time.
The wall will be available for public viewing Thursday through Saturday.
There is no charge to see the wall, but donations to keep this wall on the road are gratefully accepted.
