In East Baton Rouge Parish, students are getting ready to hit the books again. School starts this coming Wednesday, but the students need to make sure their prepared.
Saturday, the annual Back to School event kicked off at the Baton Rouge River Center. 250 students were able to get the supplies they need and even haircuts all for free.
“Being a mother of six children, I definitely know the expense of back to school and what that can mean to a family’s budget,” said EBR Metro Councilwoman Tara Wicker. “This gives the people of District 10, who may be disfortunate, and maybe don’t have the opportunity of the resources to really buy everything that is on their school supplies list. So, we just wanted to do a little extra to help out.”
Former LSU Basketball Star Glen “Big Baby” Davis, Walmart, EBR District Attorney Hillar Moore and BREC, just to name a few.
