School is back in session for East Baton Rouge Parish Schools, but due to flood damage some students didn’t return to their usual school.
In the case of Glen Oaks Park Elementary, the faculty had to create a replacement school from scratch.
The principal of Glen Oaks Park says that they had 9 days to get everything ready.
This included putting together a school library and re-painting parts of the school in red and black, the Glen Oaks Park school colors.
The Superintendent of East Baton Rouge Parish Schools, Warren Drake told us that the EBR school system is working with the state on a plan to make up the 16 days that were missed because of the flooding.
Drake hopes that this plan includes waivers for some of those days.
He said that making up all sixteen days could be extremely rough on students, parents and teachers.
