Four people went overboard after a boat collision over the weekend near Baptiste Collette Bayou, Louisiana, according to a Coast Guard news release.
Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received an alert at 10:45 A.M. Saturday of two boats colliding, which resulted in four people being ejected.
Officials said the collision was between a commerial deck boat with eight people aboard and a bay boat with four people aboard. The four people ejected were all from the bay boat. Those on the commerial deck boat helped rescue the people in the water and brought them aboard their vessel.
Watchstanders arrived at 11:05 A.M. and were able to get the four people transported to Ochsner Medical Center in Terrytown.
After this incident, the Coast Guard is sending out a reminder.
“The Coast Guard reminds all mariners to always wear a life jacket when operating on the water,” said Cdr. Zachary Ford.
