GBR Food Bank begins the move back to main facility

Wednesday, the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank opened its facility on South Choctaw a month after it flooded. 
 
The flooding caused the facility to take on four feet of water, damaging a lot of the equipment and ruining nearly 600,000 pounds of food. The Food Bank had to temporarily relocate, right up the street, and that is still where offices and day-to-day operations are handled, but now, employees can start distributing food from its old location. CEO Mike Manning tells us this is just the beginning of a long journey. 
 
“I don’t think we’re going to see normal for several years. We’re going to be in a new normal just because of the impact on our whole community,” said Manning. 
 
Right now, the Food Bank faces financial struggles with more than $2 million in bills.
