At around 3 p.m., Baton Rouge fire fighters responded to a house fire at teh 1200 block of Arcadia Drive. A mother and daughter were residents of the home.The mother was outside of the house and told firefighters that her daughter was still inside. Firefighters made their way inside to find the daughter sleeping in the back bedroom. The mattress was on fire. Both were treated for smoke inhalation at a local hospital.
The fire looked to have accidentally started from a cigarette and was contained to the mattress.
