Four months since this happened… four months Alton Sterling’s family has been waiting for an answer.
“I’m sure the whole city of Baton Rouge is waiting on the verdict because right now we know nothing. Right now, we are continuing to play the waiting game,” said Keon Preston, a family friend.
Sandra Sterling, Alton’s aunt said officials told her they won’t get a decision in the case until mid-January. Preston said it’s been tough, but through the pain, their trying to stay positive.
A picture recently surfacing on social media, of Cameron Sterling, Alton’s oldest son, backstage with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, celebrating his 16th birthday.
“They are supporting the Sterling family, and they’re just with them at this point and with him spending his birthday with them, I think that was a great idea. I’m sure there is going to be more to come,” said Preston.
Still, the big question that lingers is when?
“If you continue to ask a community and a family to be silent and to be peaceful and to be calm, and you’re not giving them no answers, nothing, you know, you can’t expect someone to be peaceful without any answers,” concluded Preston.
According to the Department of Justice, authorities still don’t have a timeframe of when the decision will be made. We will keep you updated.
