Arrest made in Duplantier couple murder

UPDATE: Baton Rouge Police has made an arrest in connection with the kidnapping and murders of Denis and Suzanne Duplantier.
 
BRPD, with assistance of several law enforcement agencies, arrested 42 year old Ernesto Llerena Alonso early Wednesday morning in Miami, Florida.  Alonso will be extradited back to Baton Rouge, and charged with two counts each of first degree murder and second degree kidnapping.

Police are investigating a kidnapping and murder of a Baton Rouge couple.
 
Baton Rouge Police Officers where called to the home of Denis and Suzanne Duplanteir after concerns from family members that they were missing.
 
They found that the couple and their truck were missing.
 
Authorities said that there were no signs of forced entry at the victim’s home, but they did find an open safe.
 
Police used the trucks On-Star system to pinpoint the location at the Petro truck stop off of interstate 12 in Hammond, Louisiana.
 
When Hammond Police located the vehicle they found the couple dead in the back seat.
 
Autopsy shows that both were strangled to death.
 
Chief Roddy Devall of the Hammond Police Department told local 33 that video surveillance shows the Duplanteir’s vehicle pulling in with white Chevy 2007 truck behind it.
 
He said, “They saw both trucks come into the Petro.  The victims truck was first followed by the white truck.  They were there about ten minutes then we see the white truck leave.  We believe this happened sometime Sunday afternoon”.
 
Hammond Police were able to get the license plate number for the white truck.
 
It’s a Louisiana license plate with the number C287533.
