Entergy warns of impostors robbing customers

A south Louisiana energy provider is warning the public about imposters who are robbing their customers.

According to Entergy Louisiana, some customers have reported being robbed by fake Entergy employees. Company officials advise customers always ask for ID.

If their is any suspicion of a fake employee at your location, call 1-800-ENTERGY or local authorities.

At this time, crews continue to be vigilant in restoring power to the area, and the company expects power to all customers who can accept it to be repaired by Monday night. Floodwaters continue to keep thousands of others from their homes and businesses.

As of noon on Monday, officials reported 14,000 customers were without power. The peak number of outages reported was 26,000 on Sunday night.  About 12,500 customers remain without power because of flooding. 

Around 2:30 p.m., Entergy reported 4,000 without power in Baton Rouge, 1,200 in Gonzales and 7,400 in Livingston. The company stated about 9,000 of those can not take power due to flooding.

Work by more than 500 employees is underway, but a large amount of the area is not reachable until water recedes. Entergy stated in some cases, electrical equipment must also has to be de-energized.

The hardest hit areas reported by Entergy are northern and eastern East Baton Rouge, Livingston, Tangipahoa and Ascension Parishes.
