From food to blankets to cleaning supplies, Jefferson Baptist Church is packed with donations, and more than 100 volunteers have stepped up to help.
“It has been phenomenal. We have church members stepping up to support the community. We have people from all over the country coming in. We have people from all over our city coming in, and just everyone is pouring as much as possible into this situation,” said Stephanie Hulett, the Jefferson Baptist Church Missions Minister and the City Attorney for Denham Springs.
Hulett said at this time, they have enough clothes, but they still need other items, like nonperishable food, to help meet the need.
“We’re in need of things like flip flops, adult diapers, adult hygiene products, baby supplies, water, things like that,” said Hulett. “Things that you would be missing if you have to evacuate your home.”
Local 33 and Fox 44 were told, since Monday, the donations have quadrupled showing the continuous support and love from the community.
“We serve an amazing God, who is showing off and doing amazing things through his people, and we cannot believe the outpouring of love and support, and we are grateful to the entire nation. We have friends from other countries calling to check on us, and we are just grateful to everyone who is coming and to the awesome God that we serve that’s helping this all be possible,” concluded Hulett.
