LSU junior Jack Green has been named a finalist for the prestigious Truman Scholarship.
Green is part of the LSU Ogden Honors College and is currently studying applied coastal environmental science and political science, according to a news release from the Ogden Honors College. The junior has accomplished a lot over his past three years as an LSU Tiger. He serves as a student senator for the College of Coast and Environment in student government and chairs the campus affairs and sustainability committee. He advocates for waste-to-landfill reduction and volunteers with Project 225, among other initiatives he is involved with.
“We are so pleased the Truman Foundation has recognized Jack’s exceptional work at LSU in making the campus more environmentally-conscious and friendly,” said Dr. Drew Lamonica Arms, director of fellowship advising at Ogden Honors College. “Jack’s commitment to a career in public service in Louisiana, especially given the state’s needs for policy solutions to coastal land loss, sea level rise, and pollution, is to be applauded. We wish him all the best as he interviews for the Truman Scholarship in Austin.”
Green will have a final interview on Friday, March 1st in Austin, Texas. Winners will be announced on April 17th.
Green is one of 199 candidates from 143 colleges and universities.The Harry J. Truman Foundation received more than 800 applications .
