Mclindon Foundation is Changing Children’s Lives With Bicycles

A local charity specializes in providing special needs children with bikes, but these aren’t the type of bikes you can buy at the store.

The McLindon Family Foundation provides adaptive bikes to special needs children.

The foundation has operated out of baton rouge for 8 years.

It all started when Andrew McLindon put together a bike for a friends special need child.

After seeing the reaction the child had, he knew he had to do more.

He said, “These bike are specially designed to fit their particular situation.  It may have high seat backs, core support, special harnesses or care giver steering from behind”.

Every single dollar donated to the foundation goes straight towards purchasing the bikes.

Andrew says that they have grown so much in the past few years they now have a waiting list.

He says it has a lot to do with families posting the reaction videos to the foundations Facebook page.

Andrew said, “When we get the feedback from the families it is proven beyond a shadow of a doubt how effective and how meaningful these bikes are”.

The McLindon Foundation plans on expanding to help more children smile.

Andrew said, “It’s just it’s just amazing when you see that.  It’s the good stuff”.
