Things are still gearing up for the candidates in the race for Mayor-President of Baton Rouge. Saturday, one of those candidates is taking her campaign a bit further with the opening of her new headquarters.
Sharon Weston-Broome officially opened her campaign headquarters on Airline Highway.
Friends, family, and supporters of the former senator came out to celebrate the next step in Weston-Broome’s campaign. There were plenty of music and food for the dozens of people there.
The democratic candidate tells us she is excited about this step, but there is still plenty of work to do, especially during this trying time for our community.
“Our next step is to continue to touch the citizens of Baton Rouge and of East Baton Rouge Parish with our message of hope, of unity, of transformation,” said Weston-Broome. “So, we will continue to be canvassing, talking to people, participating in meetings and getting our message out.”
Senator Yvonne Dorsey-Colomb and State Representative Regina Barrow were there to show their support for Weston-Broome.
The competition is crowded though. Eleven other candidates also qualified for Mayor-President. The election is November 8th.
