We can now say two people are officially running to be the leader of the Capital City.
Friday, Former Senator Sharon Weston Broome announced her bid for the Mayor-President of Baton Rouge. The Democrat served on the State Legislature for the past 22 years, first as a state representative then senator. Local 33 and Fox 44 caught up with her at Bayou Cafe, on Airline Highway, after her official announcement. Here is what she had to say.
“I’m feeling excited, exuberant, and ready to run this race, ready to serve the people of the city or the parish, and ready to take our city to the next level,” said Weston Broome.
The former senator wants to hold public meetings to see what issues matter to the community during her campaign. Metro Councilman John Delgado announced his run back in January. The election is November 18th.
