Smokie Bourgeois announces his bid for EBR Mayor-President

Smoke Bourgeois has thrown in his hat for the Mayor-President of Baton Rouge.

Bourgeois is a local business owner and a former East Baton Rouge Metro Councilman. He spoke about the ongoing issues in our city, including those facing North Baton Rouge.

Here is what Bourgeois had to say about “The Forgotten North…”

“Its about condition of neighborhoods, there are ideas in my mind. I talked about it when I was on city council,” said Bourgeois. “It really has nothing to do with with money as far as the people that live up there. it has to do with blight, and I think the city can help in that situation.”

The other candidates in the race starting with the Republicans are Senator Bodi White, Metro Councilman John Delgado and Realtor Darryl Gissel.

On the Democratic side, Former Senator Sharon Weston Broome, Former Metro Councilman Byron Sharper, Former NFL Player Greg LaFleur, State Representative C.Denise Marcelle, and Beverly Amador, who is running as an Independent.
