Two Dunham students become National Merit Finalists

Two seniors at The Dunham School have been named as finalists for a National Merit Scholarship.  

Parker Harris and Luke Russell are eligible to compete for National Merit Scholarships that will be offered this spring, according to a news release from their school. 

A little bit about the two finalists, Harris earned a perfect score on the ACT and received national recognition as an AP Scholar with Distinction, among other accomplishments. He currently plays in the school’s jazz band, runs cross country and is a member of Dunham’s Institute of Leadership. Harris plans to pursue a degree in political science and has already been accepeted in to multiple universities, including LSU and the University of North Carolina. 

Russell also earned a perfect score on the ACT. He holds multiple recognitions, including being an AP Scholar with Honor. He currently is a member of the Institute of Leadership, appeared in several school plays and competed on the football, cross country and soccer teams. Russell has plans to study mechanical engineering and has already been accepted in to multiple universities, including LSU and Texas A&M. 

The seniors are two of around 15,000 finalists. Around 7,500 will win a National Merit Scholarship.
