Two Batchelor residents died in a crash on LA 1 at the Simmesport Bridge in Lettsworth early Saturday morning.
Louisiana State Police Troopers said the crash killed 35-year-old Brandon Wright and 36-year-old Erica Thomas.
Investigators revealed 61-year-old Dannie Dixon was traveling south on LA 1 while Wright and Thomas were heading north on LA 1. For reasons still under investigation, Troopers said Wright’s truck crossed the center line while making a wide right turn into a gravel driveway.
Troopers say the impact caused Wright’s car to spin off the side of the road, fall in a ditch and overturn in a nearby canal. Wright and Thomas died form their injuries, despite wearing seatbelts.
Dixon was not injured. Louisiana State Police Troopers said the crash is still under investigation and charges are pending.
