Shooting deaths in Baton Rouge are on the rise.
The latest shooting saw three men gunned down early Sunday morning.
Some are starting to call it the deadly summer.
For Tarj Hamilton, gun violence hits close to home.
In 2007, Tarj and her husband were pulling up to their home after a concert.
She said, “It may have been around mid night when we got home. When we got out of the car, two men ran up our driveway and robbed us”.
Both Tarj and her husband were shot during the robbery.
They both survived, but Tarj lost the use of her legs.
Their injuries led them to become activist.
They started a group called “One Voice, one Dr am, One Team” to put an end to senseless killings like the shooting this weekend.
Tarj said, “Its not what your supposed to be doing. we are supposed to be loving on one another. Building our community instead of tearing each other down”.
Shooting after shooting, it seems like the problem keeps on growing.
These three men didn’t deserve to die like this.
Their loved ones didn’t deserve to lose them.
Your family doesn’t deserve another deadly summer.
Its time for all of us to stop the violence.
