In East Baton Rouge Parish, a Zachary man is dead after getting hit by an SUV.
State Police say it happened on Joor Road, north of Greenwell Springs, just before 11:00 P.M. Saturday night. Through the investigation, authorities found out 51-year-old Andrew Mulkey walked across the road, and that’s when a 2011 Jeep Liberty, driven by 47-year-old Renita Hooker, struck him.
Mulkey died at the scene. Hooker was given a chemical breath test, and there were no signs of impairment. Authorities don’t know if Mulkey was impaired at the time of the crash, but a toxicology sample will be taken.
