Police: Man broke into homes of grieving families attending funeral services

WRENTHAM, Mass. (WPRI) — A Stoughton man is accused of breaking into the homes of families who recently lost a loved one, according to the Franklin Police Department.

Police said someone called the Franklin Police Department on Saturday asking for them to check out a home on Highwood Drive.

The caller told police his Wrentham property had recently been broken into and worried the Franklin property may also be a target.

Responding officers found signs of a break-in at the Franklin property, according to police, and arrested 37-year-old Daniel Lennon, who they ran into at the home.

Police said officers found documents indicating that Lennon had been targeting homes of families who had recently lost a loved one and were attending services for them.

Lennon was held on $50,000 cash bail over the weekend and was arraigned Tuesday on charges of possession of a burglarious instrument, disorderly conduct, breaking and entering (misdemeanor), malicious/wanton damage to property and possession of a Class E substance. He was also arraigned on a warrant for outstanding charges by the United States Marshall’s Office.

An investigation is ongoing to determine if Lennon targeted other families in neighboring communities.
