Red Cross continues to help affected residents with tornado recovery

News

NOW PLAYING

Pipes, furniture and trees snapped in half are just some of debris you’ll see walking down Nan Wesley Road in Watson.

Two days after tornadoes tore through parts of the Capital Area and right here in Watson, residents are just trying to do what they can to clean up and get things back to normal. Executive Director of our local American Red Cross Merri Alessi said it is their job and their duty to help.

“We went door to door and talked to each individual that had been impacted, and I want to encourage, if you did not see a Red Cross staffer yesterday, please call the Red Cross Office because we want to talk to you,” explained Alessi.

Despite still helping people from the August flooding and recent fires, Alessi said volunteers  were prepared when this disaster struck, but they couldn’t do this without help from you the community.

“You can text us or you can go online to redcross.org/tornado, and you can donate whatever amount you would like. We need to help these folks, and your money will go to this particular event,” concluded Alessi.

If you would like to see more ways you can help, you can go to redcross.org/donate, call 1-800-REDCROSS or text tornado to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
