Phelps breaks another U.S. record

Michael Phelps is the first U.S. male swimmer to qualify for five Olympics.

Phelps had already cemented himself as perhaps the most legendary Olympian ever in 2012 in London when he became the most decorated of all time. He has 22 medals totals, including 18 golds. He also holds the record for most golds at a single Olympics with eight.

Phelps qualified Wednesday night winning the 200-meter butterfly.

The swimmer still has a chance to qualify in the 100 fly and 200 individual medley, as well several relay events.
