We’ve been hearing a lot about plans for high school graduations here in South Louisiana…how they will be different in so many ways. In Central, they’ve found a way to make it extra special, in spite of the pandemic.
They rolled out the red carpet at Central High today for their graduating seniors…literally–A RED CARPET. Faculty and staff had the stage all set, red carpet and all, as seniors drove up, with their families.
It was a special time for loved ones, who got to watch their seniors, up close and personal, walk the red carpet, get their diploma holder, walk across the stage, and smile for the camera.
Senior Chloe Graham told us, “It’s not the way I expected. But I was so grateful they were able to do this for us.”
And she was not alone.
“I feel like Central’s really good at like recognizing the people and everything,” senior Kennedy Griggs told us. ” I feel like they thought a lot about this whole situation and the fact that we’re having like a second one.”
Today’s event is just a precursor to ACTUAL graduation. The video that was shot today will be edited so all 300 plus graduates will “walk across the stage” on graduation night, May 22nd at Wildcat Stadium. Principal Brandon LaGroue says it’ll be a drive-in style ceremony, but otherwise pretty traditional.
