Experts from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) are predicting an active Atlantic hurricane season. Earlier this spring, experts from Colorado State University and several other organizations released their Atlantic hurricane season outlooks. All of which are forecasting an above-normal 2020 Atlantic hurricane season.
NOAA is predicting 13-19 named storms, 6-10 hurricanes, and 3-6 major hurricanes (Category 3 or higher).
An average season (which is based on the last 30 years) will consist of 12 total named storms, 6 hurricanes, and 3 major hurricanes.
Last year, there were a total of 18 total named storms, 6 hurricanes, and 3 major hurricanes.
Remember, all it takes is one! The Atlantic hurricane season officially begins on June 1st. Next name on the list is Bertha.
