
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRProud) Tropical Storm Arthur formed over the weekend in the Atlantic. Its center is over 250 miles east-northeast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. Arthur is moving to the east-northeast around 15 m.p.h. with sustained winds of 60 m.p.h..Arthur is expected to become post-tropical later today.
The National Hurricane Center says, “Dangerous coastal surf conditions and rip currents are expected to continue along portions of the mid-Atlantic and southeast U.S. coasts during the next couple of days.”
This will not be a threat to the Gulf of Mexico, but this is a reminder that hurricane season “officially” begins in two weeks. Now is the time to be prepared.
