BATON ROUGE, La. (BRProud) – Scattered to numerous showers and storms are expected once again today and this evening. Some storms will be strong and will have the potential to produce very heavy rain, gusty wind, frequent lightning, possibly even some small hail. A tornado or two cannot be ruled out. Heavy rain may lead to isolated flash flooding issues. Be sure to avoid all flooded areas!
Timing: Showers and storms will begin to develop later this morning and into the afternoon through the evening. Storms will slowly fizzle out tonight.

Potential impacts: Localized flash flooding will be a good possibility, as we could see some very slow-moving storms or even training cells. Area rain totals look to be between 0.25″ to 2″, but some spots could see over 2-4″ of rain – If training cells develop, rain totals could easily double or triple that amount. Areas that saw flooding on Thursday will be especially vulnerable to rain today. Any storm that develops will also have the potential to produce gusty winds in excess of 30 m.p.h., frequent lightning, and small hail. A tornado or two cannot be ruled out.
